CHINATEA Company was established in 1949 and was one of the earliest national specialized companies in the trade system after the founding of New China. It has made significant contributions to the country's economic development over the years.

Recognized by the Ministry of Commerce as a time-honored Chinese enterprise, CHINATEA Company was selected for the Xinhua News Agency's National Brand Project in 2019, and in 2021, it was included in the CCTV "Brand Powerhouse Project" project. It has come top of the tea industry for many years. China Tea Company has been selected as "My Favorite Chinese Brand" multiple times, and its products have served as "National Tea" in major national events, becoming a representative and renowned business card for China internationally.

In terms of standards, CHINATEA Company has participated in setting national, industrial, and local tea standards multiple times. It has been successfully selected as an Enterprise Standard Leader and established the CHINATEA Technology Committee, compiling nine product standards for black tea, green tea, jasmine tea, oolong tea, white tea, Pu'er tea, dark tea, Liu Bao tea, and tea bags. It has also established five technical appraisal norms for aged white tea, aged dark tea, aged Liu Bao tea, aged Pu'er tea, and aged oolong tea, leading the industry’s development with rigorous standards.

CHINATEA Company has successfully attained complete control and organization of the entire industrial chain. It has established standardized tea garden bases in various tea production areas across different provinces. The company oversees more than 170,000 mu (about 28,000 acres) of tea gardens, ensuring full control over high-quality tea leaf resources. Additionally, it owns 16 tea production factories in the six major production areas, with an annual production capacity exceeding 30,000 tons, covering various tea types and product forms.

CHINATEA Company has several subsidiaries recognized as "High-tech Enterprises" and employs four tea masters receiving special allowances from the State Council, along with 28 senior professional technical masters. The company leads the way in processing technologies for ripe Pu'er tea, new white tea processing techniques, broken black tea processing, and instant tea processing. In recent years, it has formed a joint venture, CHINATEA Technology Company, with COFCO Nutrition and Health Research Institute to conduct research on tea components, flavors, and health effects, as well as to develop or introduce standardized processing, fermentation, and other new key processing technologies. This has established a prominent commercial tea industry science and technology service platform, professional laboratory, and a large integrated research and development experience center in China, contributing to the modern fermentation processes and continuous exploration of extraction technologies, driving the industry's optimization and upgrade.

In 1951, CHINATEA Company created the first tea trademark of New China, the "Red Eight China" trademark. The trademark features a green "tea" character in the center, surrounded by red “Zhong”characters, representing green tea produced by China and implying that Chinese tea is sold worldwide. The "Red Eight China" trademark successfully expanded abroad, accumulating valuable foreign exchange reserves for New China. By exporting tea in exchange for imports, it provided the basic conditions for importing strategic materials and introducing machinery and equipment for New China. This has spread the name of new China's tea brand. Starting with the first "Red Eight China" tea trademark, generations of CHINATEA people have been striving and forging ahead, creating new tea brands such as "Haidi", "Butterfly", "Monkey King", "Hundred-Year Wooden Cellar", and "Dragon Crown", which are deeply loved by consumers.

CHINATEA Company has established a comprehensive sales system that covers distributors, chain stores, e-commerce, and modern special trades. It operates over 2,300 stores nationwide and 42 online stores on platforms such as Tmall, JD.com, and Douyin, consistently ranking as one of the top sales performers on Double 11 (Singles' Day). The company has also developed a regional layout of "Headquarters Market + Key Sales Regions" to cater to the varied tea drinking preferences of consumers in different regions and to fully tap into regional consumer markets. In recent years, it has expanded its brand product exports and built strong relationships with strategic customers in overseas markets including Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, North America, Japan, and Africa, promoting high-quality tea both domestically and internationally.
